Family Services

Shasta Head Start provides individual services to each family in order to create opportunities for success.  We believe building relationships, developing supportive partnerships with families and encouraging classroom to home connection is foundational in providing children a strong start in life.

A Family Worker or Home Visitor will partner with each enrolled family on an individual basis in supporting their needs, hopes and dreams for themselves and their families.  Family Workers/Home Visitors connect families to community resources that can support families in reaching goals or meeting direct family needs.

Parents become stronger decision makers, leaders and advocates as they participate and build connections with other parents.  There are various ways parents can participate and be involved in their child’s education:

Parent/Child Home Activities: Enjoy teaching and engaging your child in activities sent home.

Center Parent Meetings: Parent meetings are offered four times per year. These groups are based on topics of interest and provide families opportunities to make connections with others.

Parent Cafes: Parent Cafes introduce, promote and build the five protective factors through a non-traditional peer-to-peer learning process and through individual self-reflection. Parents are given the opportunity to experience learning and connecting in a new way.

Make Parenting A Pleasure: A discussion focused, parenting education opportunity, effective in improving outcomes for families and promoting the five protective factors that act as a buffer in stressful times.
